Delete your Thirteen account

• Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. You must use the in-app flow below, or email us.
• Save anything you want to keep first. Your messages are end-to-end encrypted and we hold no readable copy, so we cannot restore your chat history.
• Your username is released when you delete. Someone else may claim it, and you will not get it back.
• You are removed from the Thirteen experience entirely — you stop receiving messages, invites and Anonymous Mode windows.
• If you only want a break, log out instead: Profile › Account › Log out. Logging out keeps your account and profile intact.

The steps are identical on Android and iPhone.

1. 1Open Thirteen and make sure you are signed in.
2. 2Tap Profile in the bottom bar.
3. 3Under SETTINGS, tap Account.
4. 4Tap Delete account — it is the red row near the bottom.
5. 5Type the word delete in the confirmation box. The button stays greyed out until the word matches exactly.
6. 6Tap Delete account, then confirm in the dialog that appears.
7. 7Your account is deleted right away, every session is revoked, and the app returns to the sign-in screen.

• Your full name and display name.
• Your username, which is released back into the pool.
• Your profile photo, removed from our storage.
• Your date of birth.
• Every signed-in session. All refresh tokens are revoked, so all of your devices are signed out and cannot be used to get back in.
• Your ability to sign in, send or receive messages, or appear to anyone on Thirteen.
• Any undelivered messages we were still holding in encrypted form for you.

• Messages you already sent stay on the devices of the people who received them. They are end-to-end encrypted and we cannot reach into anyone's device to remove them.
• Messages you sent into a group remain in that group's history for the other members.
• Your phone number is kept so that the account can be reactivated, and so the same number is not silently re-registered as a brand-new account.
• Records we are required to keep for safety and legal reasons — abuse reports, Anonymous Mode session records and routing metadata — for the periods listed below.
• Anything you saved to your own device, such as downloaded photos, remains yours to delete.

Because we keep your phone number, you can start again with the same number: sign in, confirm that you want to reactivate, and verify the code we send you. You will then set up a completely fresh profile — your old name, username and photo are gone and cannot be brought back. Your old groups and chat history do not come back either.

After deletion we keep only what is listed below, for the periods set out in our Privacy Policy, unless Applicable Law requires longer or the record is subject to an active investigation or preservation request.

When a retention period expires we delete or irreversibly anonymise the data. We never hold a readable copy of your message content at any point.
